Therapeutic Services

  • In individual therapy, you will be working one-on-one with your therapist to identify the current areas of distress in your life, explore your inner self, and develop coping skills that are unique to you. Each of our therapists has their own approaches to working with individuals, and you can read more about their individualized approaches here.

  • RISE MHC works with couples at all stages of their relationships. Whether you are preparing for a long-term commitment or have been together for decades, our therapists will tailor your couples therapy sessions to meet your specific needs and reach your determined goals as a couple. Brigid works with couples utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy, which helps them form more secure connections and interrupt unhelpful patterns in their relationships.

  • Lauren utilizes The Gottman Method in working with couples, which is a research-based approach to couples therapy. Lauren is currently trained through Level 3 in The Gottman Method. The Gottman Method aids couples in a variety of ways, including strengthening a couple's friendship, improving conflict management skills, gaining awareness around emotional triggers and how they play into conflict, as well as improving understanding of one's partner overall. To read more about The Gottman Method, please click here.

Assessment in The Gottman Method consists of three sessions. Session one will be an opportunity for the therapist and couple to meet, and the couple will get the chance to share about their relationship and their reasoning for coming into therapy. An at-home questionnaire will then be given to you to be completed before session two. Session two will be split in half, the therapist getting the opportunity to meet with each partner individually to learn more about them. Please note, the therapist will not hold a secret from your partner. Session three will then be to explore strengths in your relationship, as well as evaluate areas you would like to change, in order to set the course treatment. Subsequent sessions will then utilize research-based Gottman Method interventions.
Couples sessions with Lauren are 90 minutes in length.

  • RISE MHC works with families in all phases of their lives. Sam primarily uses Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT) when working with families to help strengthen the attachment between children and caregivers, help improve self-regulation between all family members along with helping caregivers develop a variety of parenting techniques that best fit their family’s needs.

  • Prolonged Exposure therapy (PE) is a form of treatment utilized to reduce symptoms of PTSD. This evidenced based practice focuses on the reduction of PTSD symptoms through the reprocessing of the trauma(s) that one has endured and confronting the challenges that have developed as a result of these traumatic experiences. Each of our clinicians is certified in treating clients with PE therapy. We will begin by first determining if you are a good fit for PE through a short series of assessments. PE is appropriate for ages 14 and above.

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a form of treatment for children, adolescents, and their caregivers impacted by trauma. TF-CBT is an evidenced-based treatment to help children and adolescents overcome trauma-related difficulties. TF-CBT is appropriate for ages 3-21 years old.

  • Art therapy is an integrative approach to mental health counseling that combines art making, visual communication, and discussion to support you in reaching your goals for treatment. The act of art making is therapeutic, but what makes art therapy unique from typical talk therapy is the opportunity for nonverbal, visual, and symbolic expression. Art making is beneficial within the therapeutic process because it stimulates the creative-spatial hemisphere of the brain, helping you develop new perspectives on previously entrapped thoughts and feelings. When words seem to not quite capture what you’re trying to express, art can help fill in the blanks.
